A one-hour tour of the Southern Malting with John Wing the author of ‘A History of the Southern Malting’.
John will explain how the maltmakers operated in the building making Brown Malt for the London breweries. You will see its many preserved original features including the Grain Storo, the Steep Tank, the Kilns remnants of the Malting Floors along with the areas in which the malt was processed and bagged.
You will learn how fit and hard working the maltmakers had to be sustaining the Town’s prosperity and gaining for it the accolade of being ‘the premier malting town in England’.
