Ware Museum at 40: Stories of People and Place Part 2

19 Oct 2026 – 31 Jan 2027

Discover the story of Ware Museum as it celebrates its 40th anniversary!

This is the second of two special exhibitions celebrating the Museum’s 40th anniversary. It explores the Museum’s history and the local people and dedicated volunteers who have shaped it over the years. Through its collection of more than 24,000 objects, the exhibition also reveals fascinating stories about Ware and its community.

Part 2: 2006–2026 looks back at the Museum’s development over the past 20 years, including the memorable arrival of the Great Bed of Ware in 2012, on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The exhibition also shines a spotlight on some of the more unusual and intriguing objects donated during this period. Discover fascinating items connected to the Ware Abstinence Society, the Women’s Land Army, and local shops and businesses, alongside personal possessions that offer a glimpse into the everyday lives and experiences of Ware’s residents.

Join us as we celebrate 40 years of collecting, preserving and sharing the stories of Ware and its people.
